DEV becomes Web Monetized
On June 11, DEV announced that authors on its platform could now receive micro-payments for their content.
DEV authors can now enable their own payment pointer to receive micro-payments when Web Monetized browsers visit their profile and posts.
In order to start generating micro-payments with Web Monetization DEVs need to follow just these steps:
- Set up a wallet (Uphold is recommended).
- Once the wallet is set up, the user receives a Payment Pointer address.
- Add the address in the DEV settings
After following these simple steps, authors will be able to receive a micro-payment every time a monetized browser visits their profile page and posts.
As DEV explains, it has partnered with Coil as its recommended Web Monetization provider and will benefit if users sign up on Coil with its referral links.
Coil keeping busy
Coil has been certainly keeping busy in the last few weeks. It was only yesterday that it announced a $1M strategic investment in technology publishing platform Hacker Noon, enabling Web Monetization to its users along the way.
It also unveiled a WordPress plugin to make monetizing websites easier and an integration with Uphold, a digital wallet and trading platform.
A month ago it became a founding member of the Mojaloop Foundation, a charitable nonprofit organization to extend financial inclusion efforts initiated by the Mojaloop open-source software project.
