XRP, the digital asset for payments has been known for its large community and support. This is mainly due to five reasons, as recently stated by Sagar Sarbhai (Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs, Asia Pacific at Ripple):
- Speed of the asset
- Cost efficiency to move funds globally
- Used as a base currency
- Its is a great investment opportunity
The large and enthusiastic XRP community has been looking for ways to expand the XRP ecosystem and utilize its intrinsic characteristics – benefits.
One of the first and most well known projects was the XRPtipbot, created by Wietse Wind. The XRPtipbot is a bot that enables users on reddit, Twitter and Discord to send XRP to each other through reddit comments / tweets. Wietse also developed XRP text and allowed the community to send and receive XRP via text messages. The restless Wietse also created XRParrot, a service to convert Euro into XRP easy.
Recently, SchlaubiDev, developed MoneyMessage, an AddIn for Microsoft Outlook which allows users to append money in form of XRP and send it to any mail receiver. The amount is deposited in XRPTipBot which allows the receiver to withdraw at any time. Today, on March 29th, he announced on twitter the expansion of MoneyMessage on Gmail.
MoneyMessage for Gmail works through a Browser extension which allows users to append money in form of XRP and send it to any mail receiver. Similarly to Outlook, the Gmail extension utilizes the XRPtipbot to receive or withdraw the XRP.
The XRP community is certainly keeping busy despite the bear market, building and growing the XRP ecosystem. The XRP community fund recently funded the creation of a WooCommerce XRP WordPress plugin by Jesper Wallin (AKA Empatogen) and through the funding suggestions, is looking for new ways to utilize XRP and solve real life problems. It is exciting to watch what comes next and XRParcade expects that Skype and Viber will soon follow XRP integration.
